Enjoy the view of Lycabettus hill, the highest of the seven hills, and right across, the so-called Mars hill, named after God Ares’ myth and the most famous court of antiquity. Moreover, it is the place where, the St. Paul preached his famous sermon, in 52 AD.
The Lycabettus Hill

Further, walk along the Dionysiou Areopagitou pedestrian street, leading to the Archaeological site of the Ancient Agora; the political, administrative and commercial center of Ancient Athens and cradle of democracy. Now, you stand at the very spot, where great philosophers like Plato and Socrates expressed their ideas.

Walk around the sacred road, where the Panathenaea procession was held, in honor of the patron Athena Pallas. Visit the restored Stoa of Attalos and the Temple of Hephaestus, built in the 5th century B.C. and the best-preserved ancient temple in Greece; you can still hear the echo of metalworking, according to a myth.

Conclude to Monastiraki square, the so-called Flea Market.
Visit the colourful and bustling Varvakios Agora, with a meat and fish market located in a historic building and an open-air fruit and vegetable market, across the Athinas street. Then, you may enjoy a typical Greek souvlaki lunch. Free afternoon at leisure, return to hotel. Overnight in Athens.

**If you are a second-timer, half day visit to the 11-century Daphni Monastery and the archaeological site of Ancient Corinth.
The Daphni Monastery is built on the site of the ancient sanctuary of Apollo Daphnaios, almost half-way along the ancient Sacred Way to Eleusis.

The archaeological site of Ancient Corinth is located on the northern slopes of the Acrocorinth hill, including the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Corinth, the Doric Temple and the Peribolos of Apollo, the ancient theatre and the Roman Odeon.
