Description: Start in the late afternoon, with a visit to the private collection of Benaki Museum, among the most important institutions of Greece, exhibiting artefacts from the very ancient to the modern Greek history. Next, orientation tour (by car) to the city centre, to see the Syntagma (Constitution) Square, along with the House of Parliament, guarded by the Evzones with their traditional uniform.
See also the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Presidential Palace. In addition, admire the Hadrian’s Arch, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and make a short stop at the Panathenaic Stadium, where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held (1896). Moreover, get the chance to mingle with the locals, passing by the traditional, open air Flea Market and Varvakeios Agora.
Further, visit the fabulous Acropolis Museum, one of the best in Europe, enjoying also a cup of coffee at the Museum’s terrace, offering a magnificent view. Conclude the tour, by visiting the sacred Acropolis Hill and, admire its beauty during the sunset…..rendering it as romantic as it can be!!
