Tour Description

The tour starts with a first stop at the archaeological site of Akrotiri. Unique of its kind with vivid frescoes and architecture which witnesses a rare glimpse of the urban life in the Minoan period, Akrotiri demonstrates the high level of culture of ancient Santorini. You will tour the Akrotiri site along ancient Akrotiri’s main street, lined with stores and warehouses of the ancient commercial city.

You will see the impressive ancient buildings including the three-storey houses which are extensively decorated with frescoes still very well preserved from the ash. Your guide will lead you all the way through explaining to you the fascinating history of the place. Concluding your visit there and, head to the village of Pyrgos.

Passing by Megalohori, arrival in Pyrgos, for a short stop to stroll around and explore this traditional village. Then head up to Profitis Ilias, the highest point of the island, for a short stop for photo shooting and for viewing –only from outside (no entrance is allowed in)- the monastery.

Return then to Fira the capital town of the island. Wondering through the white cobbled streets of Fira a town of about 2000 inhabitants one gets the feel of the old-world charm blended with modern day comforts and Gold Street where the most interesting jewelleries can be found. After the walking tour, drive to the cruise ship, full of impressions.
